Tours start at 9:00 AM sharp at the San Ysidro border crossing
Directions to the San Ysidro border crossing starting point:
We recommend taking the trolley to the border rather than parking in San Ysidro. To get to the trolley, take 5 South and exit in Chula Vista at Palomar Street or Palm Avenue. In each case the trolley station and free parking lot are about one block east of the freeway. The one closest to the border is Palm Ave. Take the trolley south to the last stop at San Ysidro and you are there. The trolley fare is about $2 and the trolleys run every 15 minutes.
As you get off the trolley look for a person carrying a TOUR MAQUILERO sign, or gather in front of McDonald's, which is right at the last trolley stop. (Warning: there are two McDonald's in San Ysidro. We are referring to the one at the foot of San Ysidro Blvd, just east of the border crossing.)
Driving
If you prefer to drive, take I-5 or I-805 south and exit “Camino de la Plaza, Last USA Exit.” Turn left on Camino de la Plaza. Turn right on E. San Ysidro Blvd. You will find signs for parking lots--they charge from $5 to $8 for eight hours of parking.
Shortly after 9:00am, we will proceed to cross into Mexico and board the tour bus.
We will be outside for part of the day, so dress appropriately for the weather. You may want to bring some water.
